Bursary
This bursary is available to any member of the SCCS (other than committee members) or non-members for a costume or textile related activity, although preference will be given to member applications and institutions in our local area. Projects such as the partial funding of an area of research, purchase of archival products for a small museum or trust, or the cost of a conference fee would be eligible. Other items might include help with fees for courses, workshops, travel expenses, books for research or entrance fees for visits to collections.
Application for the bursary of a maximum of £250 should be made on the society’s application form which can be obtained by request via the Contact page of this website – here.
The deadline for applications for this bursary is normally 31st January each year. Applications will be discussed by the committee at their next meeting. Applicants will be informed of the committee’s decision within six weeks of the application deadline. Applications are welcome at any time of the year and depending on the nature of the proposed project, timeframe, and the availability of funds, additional bursaries may be given at the committee’s discretion.
Bursary winners will be asked to report back briefly on the activity funded by the bursary, either in the newsletter or in person at a study day. Alternatively, the successful applicants may agree to give a full length presentation as part of the SCCS programme of events.
The bursary will also be promoted via the SCCS website and social media platforms and successful applicants will be asked to participate in these.
